CURTAIN WALLS

"CURTAIN WALLS IN A BETTER VIEW FROM HEIGHT"

Nowadays, a modern façade primarily refers to energy efficiency by obtaining the best thermal insulation coefficient, with solutions and details harmonized with other types of finishes once the architectural and technical requirements of a building have been met.

In addition to water-tightness, resistance to wind loads, heat, moisture, sound and burglary proof, now façades have to perform ergonomic functions, such as using natural light and solar heat, as well as natural ventilation.

Contemporary façades are distinguished by a design with profiles that have gradually smaller visible widths and a perfect integration of the complementary systems of windows, doors, shading systems, balconies, banisters, awnings and even photovoltaic panels in the façade system. One can choose from a variety of colors and finishes for both the inner and outer parts of the profile: matte, glossy, metallic or various other textures.

The curtain walls are modern façades with excellent thermal and sound insulation qualities, but especially with endless possibilities of design and style. It is not only a solution for office or bank buildings, but also for the closing of interior spaces or for the construction of skylights (self-supporting or applied on steel, concrete, or wood structures). Curtain wall systems are made up of:
• Own structural system consisting of mullions (vertical elements) and spacers/traverses (horizontal elements);
• Panels mounted on their own structural system, which may be: transparent glass panels (fixed or mobile) or opaque panels;
• Clamping, fastening, sealing and finishing devices (special parts, gaskets and putties);
• Thermal insulating windows.

One of the great tendencies of contemporary architecture is to directly connect the interior spaces of buildings with the outside as much as possible. The glass made using modern technologies developed in the recent years became an ideal filter for this purpose. Glass is the material that reconciles transparency and aesthetics with thermal insulation, sun and shock protection, acoustic insulation or fire proofing.

The use of these profiles makes possible the construction of vertical façades, oblique façades and skylights.

The system flexibility provides the ability to achieve internal angles of 90 degrees, and even different angles using special profiles. Fixed and mobile windows and panels of various shapes can be inserted into the modules.

The supporting structure is made of tubular transoms and mullions that allow choosing the optimal static solution depending on wind strength and the modular size of the façade. These mullions are placed inside the façade, so are less subject to variations in temperature.
